Welcome to Week 4 at Conondale SS
As we progress through Term 1, I am pleased to share some exciting updates and acknowledge the fantastic efforts of our students, staff, and families. It has been wonderful to see such high levels of engagement across the school, and I am particularly pleased to report that our current attendance rate stands at 93.9%. This is a strong start to the year as we work towards our annual goal of 92%. Regular attendance is crucial for student learning, and I encourage everyone to maintain this positive momentum.
Key Priorities in Focus
This year, we are focusing on two key priorities that will shape our teaching and learning practices:
Priority One: Enhancing our understanding of the Australian Curriculum while strengthening the links between curriculum, teaching, learning, and student outcomes, with a particular focus on Mathematics.
Priority Two: Integrating effective pedagogical approaches to refine teacher monitoring of student learning and further strengthen instructional practices.
These priorities remain central to our professional development and classroom strategies as we strive to deliver high-quality learning experiences for all students.
School Improvements & Facilities Update
We are pleased to welcome back the painters, who have returned to complete the final stage of our school’s refresh. The improvements to our facilities will contribute to a more vibrant and inspiring learning environment for our students. Thank you for your patience as these works continue – we appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth process.
Student Wellbeing & Gratitude Journaling
This term, we have introduced daily gratitude journaling for students. This initiative is designed to foster a positive mindset, improve wellbeing, and encourage students to reflect on the things they are grateful for each day. We have already seen a fantastic response, with students embracing the opportunity to develop a habit of gratitude and positivity.
Important Updates
Parade Time Change: School parade will now be held from 2:00 - 2:20 pm each week. Please take note of this new schedule.
Attendance Monitoring: Moving forward, we will no longer be offering a text message service for attendance. Instead, we will be calling parents directly for any unexplained absences. Regular attendance is essential for student success, so we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring students are at school every day.
Cono Club: Cono Club will be held after parade every Monday, and parents are welcome to join.
Principal’s Upcoming Engagement
I will be visiting Emerald North State School from 25th - 27th February to review their school. I look forward to returning on the 28th of February and continuing our work together at Conondale SS.
Student Leadership & Innovation
Well done to our aspiring leaders for putting on a bake sale. I look forward to seeing what other innovations they produce.
