3-6 News

Welcome to Week 6!

We are now well into the term, and the past fortnight has been filled with exciting learning experiences and hands-on activities. With so much happening across the school, it’s wonderful to see our students engaged, learning, and having fun!

Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program has been in full swing, with students cooking up delicious vegetable pasta and vegetarian sausage rolls. These sessions not only teach valuable cooking skills but also reinforce the importance of healthy eating and sustainability. A huge thank you to Lawrence for joining us and supporting students during our cooking adventures. We are always on the lookout for extra hands in our kitchen and garden. If you have some spare time and would love to support our students in growing, harvesting, and preparing fresh produce, please let us know. Your help makes a big difference!

A big thank you to our local Sunshine Coast council representatives who visited last week to educate students about responsible pet ownership. With the help of Sunny the dog, students enjoyed an interactive learning experience about caring for pets and understanding the important role we play in ensuring their wellbeing.

Our budding artists in the weekly Cono Art Club sessions have been exploring the creative world of Pablo Picasso! Through self-portrait activities, students have experimented with abstract shapes, bold colours, and unique perspectives. It’s been fantastic to see their artistic talents shine!

In Mathematics, students have been developing their spatial awareness through mapping and grid referencing activities. Next up, we’ll be delving into data collection and interpretation, giving students the opportunity to analyse and present information in meaningful ways. Our young writers have been learning how to craft engaging narratives with a focus on creating cohesive paragraphs that include a variety of expanded sentences. Keep an eye out for some fantastic writing pieces from our students!

As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus, we are reinforcing the importance of following instructions first time, every time during eating breaks, tuck shop and Chappy brekky. This helps to ensure a calm and respectful environment, allowing everyone to enjoy their meals safely and responsibly. A reminder that our tuckshop continues to provide delicious meal options, and our Chappy Brekky is available for students to enjoy a great start on Friday mornings. Thank you to our

P & C and Chappy Jayde for making these initiatives possible.

To encourage positive and engaging play during breaks, we are introducing different focus activities each week. This week, students can enjoy playing with frisbees, promoting teamwork, coordination, and fun!

Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a vibrant and dynamic place for learning. Let’s have another fantastic fortnight ahead!
