3-6 News
We’ve had a wonderfully busy start to Term 3 in the Year 3–6 classroom!
A warm welcome to Melissa Burton, who has joined our team and is now teaching Science on Mondays and PE and HASS on Wednesdays. It’s been great having her energy and expertise in our space!
Our PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) focus for Weeks 3 and 4 has been all about attendance because every day at school counts! Students have been reflecting on the importance of showing up and giving their best, and we’ve seen some fantastic commitment to being here and doing their best. Keep it up!
There’s a buzz of excitement as we count down to our PBL Reward Day on Friday, August 15th. We’re off to Strike Bowling at Maroochydore! This celebration recognises students who have been consistently making positive behaviour choices across all areas of the school and earning fuzzies along the way.
We’ve also been busy in the kitchen, whipping up some delicious carrot and beetroot fritters and pumpkin soup with croutons and sour cream – yum! A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers Lawrence, Ashleigh, Hayley, and Emilly for making it all possible. These dishes are just a warm-up for our much-anticipated annual Cono Cook-Off, where student teams will plan, prep, and cook their own creative vegetarian menus for local guest judges. It's a true showcase of teamwork, communication, and culinary flair!
In English, we’ve been learning to write persuasive texts with a theme that ties perfectly into our PBL values—friendship. Students have been exploring how to structure their arguments and use persuasive language to convince others why being a good friend matters and how strong friendships help everyone feel safe, happy, and connected at school.
In maths, we’ve been diving into fractions, decimals, and percentages, sharpening our multiplication and division strategies, and building our confidence in problem-solving.
Don't forget:
- PBL Reward Day – August 15th
- Maleny High School Parent Information Session – August 19th @ 2:30 pm
