Farewell and Best Wishes to Lisa
Lisa’s last day at Conondale SS will be on June 26th, 2025. We thank Lisa for all her hard work, care, and contribution to our school. We wish her all the very best for her next chapter and know she will be greatly missed by students, staff, and families alike.
Upcoming staff Development
Louise Sanderson and I are fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a Reading Masterclass on 1st May, where we will deepen our knowledge and explore strategies to further enhance literacy outcomes across our school. Additionally, Jeanette Vergens and I will be attending professional learning on Restorative Practices on 7th May. This training will support our ongoing efforts to build strong, positive relationships and a supportive school culture. We look forward to bringing back new insights and sharing them with our team.
Dave will be attending a two-day professional development opportunity focused on advancing his knowledge and understanding of the latest developments in QLearn. This training will support our continued efforts to integrate digital learning tools effectively across the school. We’re excited to see what new ideas and insights Dave will bring back to share with us!je
Looking Ahead
As we move further into Term 2, it’s fantastic to see the energy and excitement in classrooms and around the school. Keep up the great work, and we look forward to seeing everyone continue to thrive!
Let’s make it another amazing term at Conondale SS!
Our whole school approach to literacy! WOW!
It's so great to be back. I had a really relaxing break and hope you all did too. We've been hit by a bit of sickness this week but we've managed to start all our term 2 work. Information texts in English, place value in Maths, cooking and have done some Qlearn in digi tech. I'm looking forward to a great term of learning.
Don't forget it's beach day tomorrow. A note is in diaries to let you know how the day works.
Louise

Welcome to Term 2, Week 2!
We hope everyone had a refreshing break. With two public holidays last week and another long weekend ahead in Week 3, Term 2 is already off to a busy start! We are excited to welcome Lachlan and Jackson back into our classroom. It is wonderful to see you return to Conondale State school and settle in. We’re so glad to have you as part of our school community!
A big thank you to all the students, parents, and staff who participated in the ANZAC Day commemorations in Maleny. A special mention to our Year 6 students who respectfully represented our school by reading a poem at the Maleny Hospital service.
New date for our Surf Skills program at Alexandra Headlands! It has been rescheduled for this Thursday, May 1st. Please ensure students arrive at school on time, ready for a day of fun and learning! Students are extremely excited and looking forward to building their surf safety knowledge, catch some waves, and boost their confidence in the ocean.
This term, we’ll also be getting our hands dirty in the Garden of Promise on Friday afternoons. We would love some extra helping hands — parents, grandparents, friends — everyone is welcome! If you’re free and would like to join us, we’d love to see you there.
Our PBL focus for weeks 1 and 2 is
‘I am respectful. I follow instructions first time, every time.’
In short, it’s about listening, respecting, acting, and helping things run smoothly! Year 3-6 are learning to listen actively, acting straight away, moving quickly and quietly between activities and showing respect. When everyone follows instructions the first time, the whole class learns more and stays on track.
A significant improvement in attendance last term has demonstrated student commitment and dedication to learning at our wonderful school. Keep it up!
Enjoy the upcoming long weekend!
Warm regards,
Miss Vergens
